Bookbirds

I once had a sparrow alight upon my shoulder for a moment, while I was hoeing an a village garden, and I felt that I was more distinguished by that circumstance than I should have been by any epaulet I could have worn.

Isn't that a nice experience! To have a sparrow sitting on your shoulder for a moment! And isn't that something to remember? And isn't that very much like "meeting" a lovely book!!?? I often think that a book which is important to me... well, it has chosen me, and not the other way round. What a stroke of luck!
And it speaks to me like someone who is singing a song to me, sometimes with a melody I wouldn't forget for a long time, if ever. And it is sometimes very funny stuff, not always heavy reading, and I love to laugh when reading a good story.

So my birds here have a slight touch of humor ...

Now: These are my "bookbirds", I think they possibly make nice bookmarks. I feel that it could be good to be accompanied by such a "being" while reading something nice.

Each bookbird is unique. It is made of several pieces of fabric, felt and leather, the wings are hand-appliquéd. It is 21cm/ 7cm or about 8" / 3".  The top looks different than the underside.
